Benue People's Democratic Party (PDP) has imposed a suspension on Ayu for engaging in activities against the party's interests

 Ayu was suspended by the ward exco for engaging in anti-party activities, following a vote of no confidence passed against him. 

Vanger Dooyum, the party's secretary in Igyorov ward, stated that Ayu's actions, in collaboration with his associates, contributed to PDP's loss in his ward and local government during the governorship election. Additionally, Ayu is accused of failing to pay his annual dues as stipulated by the party's constitution. His suspension was endorsed by twelve out of the seventeen exco members who signed the documents. They further alleged that Ayu did not participate in the governorship and state assembly elections held on the 18th of March, 2023. According to them, most of Ayu's closest associates worked for the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), which led to the PDP's dismal performance in Igyorov Ward. Kashi Philip, the ward chairman of Igyorov, also appended his signature to the letter along with the exco.
